Welcome to Loma Parda
People spend their whole lives in Taos and never tire of the light on the mountain. Loma Parda exists so you do not have to leave it behind. Since 2001, a quarter century now, this community has given Taos seniors a settled, affordable place among neighbors of every walk of life, with rents on most homes kept below market through the tax-credit program. Section 8 vouchers are welcome.

Green-built from the ground up
Taos is high desert, and water is precious here. Roof rain across the community is collected into a 30,000-gallon catchment system and put to work on the grounds instead of running off down the street.
The community was built with recycled and responsibly chosen materials, part of a green-building practice this family of communities has followed for decades.
Loma Parda was designed as a green community from its first drawing: sturdy adobe-style buildings suited to mountain winters and bright high-desert summers.
The green habit runs in the family: our sister communities across New Mexico have earned Enterprise Green Communities certification and U.S. Green Building Council LEED ratings up to Platinum.

The neighborhood
Loma Parda sits on Camino de la Cruz, tucked between town and the mountain: Holy Cross Hospital, Smith's grocery and pharmacy, and the Plaza are all a few minutes away, and the fare-free Blue Bus runs through town on weekdays.
Good to know
Loma Parda is an independent-living community for adults 55 and older. At least one member of the household must be 55 or better, and most homes carry income limits under the affordable housing program. One short call to our office is the easiest way to check eligibility for your household.
Income limits are set each year by HUD for Taos County and depend on how many people live in the home. They change annually, so the surest way to know is to call with a rough idea of your monthly income, such as Social Security or pension amounts. We can usually tell you the same day.
Rents for the program homes are a set amount below the market rate, not a percentage of your income, and they depend on your household's income tier and the floor plan you choose. Rates adjust from time to time, so please call the office for today's exact figures and availability.
